Community Involvement
At Maverik, we're committed to making a difference in the communities where we live and work - from the Midwest to the West Coast.
As a subsidiary of FJ Management (FJM), Maverik helps fund the mission of FJM's Call Foundation and Call to Action Foundation. Both Foundations are dedicated to supporting Maverik's primary pillars for giving - increasing access to food, education, and affordable housing - to help underserved communities across Maverik's operating region encompassing 20 states and growing. Since 2007, the Foundations have invested more than $55 million to strengthen the lives of working families throughout Maverik's footprint. FJM's subsidiary companies include Maverik, Big West Oil, Kum & Go and Crystal Inn.

Supporting Our Neighbors
Helping Local Neighbors through Food Donations
More than 16 million meals* and counting!
Everyone needs nutritious food to thrive. While people are working hard to provide for themselves and their families, approximately 44 million people—that's one in seven people in the U.S.— experienced food insecurity in 2022.
That's why Maverik has teamed up with Feeding America®, the nation's largest domestic hunger-relief organization, to rescue surplus food in our stores and contribute it to local food banks. Together with newly acquired Kum & Go, our combined food waste reduction program is active in nearly 450 stores across 13 states serving 24 local food banks and growing – and has thus far raised over 1.4M pounds of surplus food creating over 1.2M meals.

Education
$6.6 million in scholarships to students in need.
Maverik is focused on fueling youth educational adventures. In addition to supporting a variety of educational charities throughout Maverik's operating region through the Call to Action Foundation, we've invested more than $6.6 million in scholarships to students across Utah. Many of our scholarship recipients are first-generation students. We support them with professional mentorship, academic counseling, and connections to social support services, so they are well-equipped to succeed in educational and professional environments.
Affordable Housing
Invested $38 million in affordable housing for working families.
Affordable housing is one of the most urgent and serious needs facing our neighbors. Research shows that increasing access to affordable housing is the most cost-effective strategy for reducing childhood poverty and increasing economic mobility in the United States. Since 2022, we have invested more than $38 million to secure and preserve safe, affordable housing for families in regions where our Team Members live and work, ensuring more families enjoy a better quality of life.
Round-Up Your Change - Register Donation Programs
Together with our generous customers, we helped raise funds for select non-profits making strong impacts in our local communities. Since 2021 we've raised over $3.5M to support timely and ongoing causes most important to our Team Members and customers!

National Park Foundation - Over $686K raised for “Open OutDoors for Kids” program!
Summer 2023 - As Adventure’s First Stop, Maverik promotes healthy outdoor exploration. In conjunction with Swire Coca-Cola (Swire), Maverik donated $686,576 to the National Park Foundation, the official nonprofit partner of the National Park Service. The donation included $250k from Maverik, $25k from Swire, supplemented by over $411k in generous customer donations. Funds will help connect kids to meaningful learning experiences at national parks across Maverik’s 12 western states through the NPF’s “Open OutDoors for Kids” program.
Red Cross - Nearly $764K raised for urgent humanitarian aid for the Ukraine crisis
Spring 2022 - In 2022, the American Red Cross contributed millions to the global Red Cross network allowing teams on the ground to provide lifesaving aid — like food, shelter, water, medical care and mental health support — to the millions displaced within Ukraine and throughout neighboring countries.
Through Maverik’s Round Up Your Change program, nearly $764,000 was raised, through a direct donation of $350k from Maverik supplemented by nearly $414k in generous customer donations. One hundred percent of the donation went toward the global Red Cross effort to provide humanitarian aid to people affected by the crisis.
Feeding America - Over $573K raised to help fight local hunger
Fall 2023 - Teaming up with Feeding America to activate a Round Up Your Change campaign for the third straight fall season, Maverik raised $573,254 including a $250k direct donation from Maverik and over $323k in generous customer donations. The contribution will be distributed to 16 Feeding America partner food banks across the 12 western states where the register donation program was active at Maverik stores.
